After several professional chefs came to us asking for a chef’s knife with a longer, deeper blade, we created the Brawny Chef.
Substantial and yet exceptionally light, it is a great all rounder designed to see you through multiple aspects of kitchen service.
Our classic chef’s knife in super size, Brawny is ideal for larger hands and experienced chefs.
Modeled on the classic French design, it boasts an extra deep, extra long blade, with tapered end. The belly has a gentle curve, supporting the classic rocking chop motion. Meanwhile the depth of the blade creates knuckle clearance. This plus our handle design makes it perfect for putting in the hours at the chopping board.
Use it for everything from chiffonading herbs, to slicing veggies, to gutting and scaling fish.
This special edition Saltire handle was originally requested by Kenny B, one of our Scottish chef customers and we liked it so much we had to add it to our range. As with all our knives, we can engrave the blade with anything you like at no additional charge. Other flag designs available upon request.

As with every Savernake Knife, the Brawny Chef features our trademark concave hollow grind, expertly blended into a tapering convex cutting edge. This means it is both incredibly light, and easy to hone. It also allows for smoother cutting and slicing due to reduced metal passing through the ingredient, and less sticking, due to the reduced surface contact. Quite simply, the concave hollow grind is the business.
