Our Workhorse started life as a special commission for a customer looking for a knife that drew inspiration from our Brawny Chef and Gyuto, with detail from our special edition Sargeant Classic thrown in for good measure.
Substantial and yet exceptionally light, it is a great all rounder designed to see you through multiple aspects of kitchen service and is ideal for larger hands and experienced chefs.
With a less-pronounced rock to the belly and a distinctive heel curve and good depth of blade, the Workhorse allows a gentle rocking chop motion but is equally well suited to a more up and down chopping technique, with the depth of the blade creating good knuckle clearance. This plus our handle design makes it perfect for putting in the hours at the chopping board.
Use it for everything from chiffonading herbs, to slicing veggies, to gutting and scaling fish.

As with every Savernake Knife, the Workhorse features our trademark concave hollow grind, expertly blended into a tapering convex cutting edge. This means it is both incredibly light, and easy to hone. It also allows for smoother cutting and slicing due to reduced metal passing through the ingredient, and less sticking, due to the reduced surface contact. Quite simply, the concave hollow grind is the business.
