Micarta is a dense composite of cotton and linen, bonded under heat and pressure with phenolic resin. It does not absorb moisture, it grips better wet than dry, and it warms to the hand rather than chilling off. The right handle for the conditions an outdoor cook actually works in: wet hands, greasy boards, rain, smoke, ash.
The blades themselves are unchanged from our kitchen range. CATRA-rated in the top 2.5% globally for sharpness and edge retention, hardened in-house to 60 HRC, ground to our concave profile, sharpened to 15 degrees a side.
