The Omni-Direction Handled Knife
This stunning knife is the result of almost a year of development with Levison Wood and is as functional as it is historic. To learn about the historical elements of the knife, click here.
The 4mm thick spine would allow the explorer to use the blade with a stick to split wood, while the signature Savernake concave blade gives an edge that is fine enough for skinning and gralloching – to aid in the latter the knife has a gentle drop point and is designed to be held comfortably (with a supporting finger along the spine) in the reverse position. The thick spine and it accompanying sharp edge can also be used in conjunction with a fire steel to light fires.
The handle is made from a combination of Richlite (compressed layers of paper in a phenolic resin used for skateboard ramps), our own in-house filled resin and English Yew. Yew is a remarkable wood that requires very little care, is extremely resistant to the elements and is comfortable and non-slip in the wet. The whole knife is held together by a network of hidden dowels and pins, bound with slow-set marine two-part epoxy. The handle is extremely ergonomic, giving a fantastic grip in all conditions, and is suitable to small and large-handed users alike,
The sheath has been designed for quick and easy release of the blade, with extra leather sown along the blade receiving area for extended durability.
And – as with all our knives – it comes with a lifetime guarantee.
- First 25 knives contain a pin made from a piece of metal from one of the trains that T.E. Lawrence (of Arabia) blew up in 1918
